Our Team

Barry W. Krowne, CPA
President

Barry has been a CPA and President of his own firm for 46 years.

What has always made his work meaningful is creating relationships with his clients, both individuals and businesses. He gets to know his clients through honest conversations with the perspective to view their finances as part of the bigger picture of their lives. Besides his expertise in business consulting, accounting, and tax, he excels at analyzing and synthesizing information and data quickly and then sharing with his clients the possible solutions and paths to accomplish their goals.

Barry brings these same skills, compassion, and strategic vision to his non-profit work. He is a Director of Knock Foundation, formed in 2007 and focused on aid to Africa. That work continues today. He has served as President, Vice President, and on the Board of Trustees of Temple Ahavat Shalom. Currently he continues to assist the Temple in several financial capacities. He has also served on the Board of a Bank, as well as other local foundation boards.

He loves to hike, and among his major efforts were to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2009, complete the Lares Trek in Peru in 2014, hike the Grand Canyon Rim To Rim in 2015 and summit Mt. Meru in Tanzania in 2017. He is a former college tennis player, but mostly is a fan of the sport today, having put his rackets down so he has the time to hike. He was also an active student of the martial art of Ketsugo-te, holding two black belts. He loves to travel and has been to about 35 countries on five continents.

He and his wife of 47 years have two children and seven grandchildren.

Andrew P. Krowne, MST Senior Accountant & Director of Virtual Accounting Services

Andrew returned in January of 2015 to Krowne Certified Public Accountants after a five-year stint as Controller and Director of Facilities at a major Los Angeles marketing company, at which he added a variety of skill sets to his resumé.

He now brings a private industry perspective to his accounting experience. Andrew’s extensive IT background, which includes owning and running his own IT company for 22 years, allows him to advise clients as to more efficient means of handling financial data, as well as streamlining their own business methods. He cares for his clients, both professionally and personally, which translates into an extraordinary level of service. Client satisfaction and retention are paramount.

Andrew’s skills have been utilized as Treasurer of the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council, part of the government of the City of Los Angeles. In 2016, Andrew uncovered one of the most significant instances of misuse of public funds ever seen in the Neighborhood Council system.

Andrew is very active in the Community, having been a member of the Pomelo Community Charter Elementary Governance Council and Budget and Technology Committees, the Vice Chairman of the Topeka Charter SAS Governance Council and President of Topeka Drive PTA. He is a member of the Aliso Canyon Disaster Health Research Study Community Advisory Group working to secure a “gold standard” health study for the residents of the San Fernando Valley in the aftermath of the Aliso Canyon Gas Storage Facility blowout disaster, as well as creating the Environmental Health Tracker, a mobile app enabling communities to crowd-source health symptom data.

Andrew obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix, Master of Science degree in Taxation from the Tseng College at Cal State University Northridge and is a member of Delta Mu Delta the International Honor Society for Business.

In his free time he can be seen coaching his five children in a variety of sports, playing on adult basketball and softball teams, or assisting his wife’s clothing distribution business. He is a super-fan of the Los Angeles Kings and San Francisco Giants.

Art Leigh, Staff Accountant / Virtual Accounting Specialist

Art is a 20 year veteran of small business operations and finance.

He started in accounting while working his way through college, handling the daily cash accounting for one of Los Angeles’ largest tennis and racquet clubs. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Art worked in business operations and accounting for several small companies, eventually landing a position with a leading medical company.

After two years in a corporate setting, Art realized his love for working with closely held small businesses and entrepreneurs and returned to work in small business. In 2008 he helped transform and grow a local retail ATM company into a national ATM sales, service and parts company. In 2013 he sold his partnership position to start an accounting and consulting practice, getting back to his core passion, helping other small businesses grow.

Art’s experience, accounting skills, commitment to the newest technologies and passion to help the people behind the business brings a powerful perspective to his clients. Whether the client’s focus is medical, retail, technology, financial or construction, he can assist in achieving their goals. He also has experience in the sensitive area of handling trusts and managing the financial well-being of the trustor and trustees. Art stays on top of current trends as more and more companies transition to cloud-based “virtual” solutions.

Outside the office Art spends his time with his wife, daughter, good friends and his dog, Aspen Tikanni (Tiki). He enjoys golf, snow skiing, and is an avid martial artist.

Wendy Krowne
Office Manager

Wendy has over 40 years of experience handling a multitude of office administrative duties.

But, what she enjoys most and finds fulfilling is the ongoing contact with our clients, developing and maintaining those long-term relationships.

When not in the office, she devotes much time and energy to two charitable organizations that are especially meaningful to her. She has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of Temple Ahavat Shalom, as well as having chaired and served on many committees. Knock Foundation, established in 2007 by her daughter and her husband, partners with underserved communities in developing countries to provide the access and opportunity to pursue an education, practice healthy living and exist in a clean environment.

She is grateful to have enjoyed good health and has always worked out to remain as fit as possible. That has paid off and gets tested by her 7 grandchildren, all of whom have plenty of energy and with whom she must keep up. She loves the time spent with family, maintaining traditions and creating memories. Travelling is one of her favorite things to do, especially with friends, having visited several European countries, Israel, Tanzania, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Central America, etc. Wherever she travels, her focus is on trying to get a feel for what life is really like there, as well as the sites. And, although in no way a daredevil, she does enjoy a zipline, ATV, parasail, or helicopter adventure.

Kay Silverman
Executive Assistant

Kay has been with Krowne Certified Public Accountants for 19 years.

Aside from her many varied administrative and office duties, she enjoys interacting with and assisting our clients.

In her free time, Kay volunteers for many charitable and social causes, including volunteering on different committees at her temple and community action groups. She loves to travel with friends to different cities across the country and is a real movie enthusiast.

When our clients come to Krowne, they become part of our family.

We take pride in the long term relationships we develop with our clients and are grateful to help them meet their financial objectives.
